Installation Instructions
- Remove the axles and then remove the backing plates.
- Install caliper brackets to the outside surface of the housing. Hold in
place with the large top bolt, mark the two 3/8 holes, remove the brackets,
and drill the two holes to 3/8 and the lower hole to 5/16.
- Bolt the brackets to the inside of the flanges. On a 45 - degree angle for
front calipers or straight back for rear calipers.
- Reinstall the axles.
- Install the rotors on the studs and hold in place by the wheel nuts, check
the rotors for any wobble. Under .010 would work o.k. Also check the brackets
for being parallel to the rotors. Grind or shim the brackets to correct.
- Install the Chevy calipers and pads using the long Chevy screws, and the
7/16 washers to move the sleeves out as far as possible. (Grind off any
projection on the caliper that might hit the bracket.)
- Use front calipers from 78 - 83 Chevelle, Monte Carlo, El Camino, Malibu,
Cutlass, F-85, Pontiac Grand prix, Bonneville, Grand Am, Gto, Le Mans,
Tempest, 82 - 83 Buick Regal, Camero, or rear calipers with a parking from 79
- 85 El - Dorado, Riviera, Toronado and 80 to 85 Seville.
- An adjustable proportioning valve will probably be needed in the line
going to the rear brakes because you now have more rear brakes than you had
before.
- If you have a spongy pedal and bench bleeding the master cylinder and a
thorough bleeding of the system does not cure the problem, recheck the
troubleshooting sheet.
Pinch off the rubber line between the frame and axle. This will keep the
fluid in the lines and make it easier when you bleed the system.
